Volkswagen to launch ‘Vet’ campaign for Jetta

Volkswagen is set to unleash a commercial titled ‘Vet’ to focus on the advantage of Volkswagen Jetta’s keyless access. The 30-second spot tells the story of a man and his dog, in the premium mid-sized car marque.
Deutsch LA has created the campaign and the media planning and buying is handled by MediaCom. Shot in Los Angeles, ‘Vet’ shows how the Jetta’s keyless system works, even in the most extreme circumstances. The story revolves around a frustrated executive who discovers that the reason he can't find his car keys at home is that his bulldog has swallowed them. His Jetta solves the problem, by allowing him to open it without the keys.
The commercial has been shot by feature film director Noam Murro of Biscuit Filmworks, who has previously directed ads like ‘Piñata’, ‘Tree’, and ‘Crash’ for Volkswagen. For Johnny Cash fans, the ugly bulldog is introduced with Johnny's cover of ‘Dirty Ol’ Egg-Sucking Dog’.
In July, Volkswagen unveiled ‘Unbelievable value’ in the UK – a campaign focussing on the affordability of the German car brand. The TV spot was supported by print and digital executions, in what was a $4.3m campaign.
