$6,500 Mirrorless camera from Hasselblad called ‘Lunar’

The house of Hasselblad has recently unveiled what it seems to be a beautiful combination of artistic Italian design and the top notch image gadgetry by Hasselblad, in the shape of a small, mirrorless, interchangeable lens camera reportedly appointed the “Lunar”.
The found of Hasselblad, Victor Hasselblad, has chosen to mix up beautifully handcrafted wood essences with the technology produced under his signature. The result is a gorgeous, ultra ergonomic camera with state of the art controls and functionality. It can be easily used in either fully automatic or fully manual mode, at the same time embodying technology similar to high end DSLRs.
One of the most important facts is that it can be used be either enthusiasts, non professional photographers and, at the same time, by the most serious photographers, who work in the business.
The state of the art APS-C 24.3 MP sensor with 25 AF points puts this camera close to the DSLR categories, alongside an extremely high frequency processor with real time image processing and RAW to JPEG conversion. In addition, the camera is also equipped with the one off OLED viewfinder and an Ultra-bright 3 inch HD display, ensuring extremely short response times, high contrast and accurate image composition and rendering.
There are a lot more technical details worth mentioning about the camera. For instance, it features Auto HD, DRO, anti-motion blur mode, an option to use larger A-mount lenses for professional video composition, one-touch instant full HD video recording, focus and exposition control, an external microphone can also be connected to it, and, furthermore, provides an extremely wide ISO, between 100 and 16,000, and instant shutter response of 10 frames per second.
In terms of software, it includes a number of picture effects, scene selections, the innovative smart “intelligent face registration” and a comprehensive set of creative styling programs. Alongside these features, this camera is also a premiere for Hasselblad – it is the very first time they’ve used carbon fiber, titanium, wood, leather and a variety of precious metals.
The Lunar is due to be launched during the first quarter of 2013, bearing a price tag of $6,530 per unit. Apart from all the technical stuff we’ve presented here, this is a staggeringly gorgeous piece, to be honest!
